Population Served
The geographic region served by the North Coast Perinatal Access System includes the counties of San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, the northern portion of San Mateo county, and the portions of counties that are west of the coastal range summit. The population served includes all childbearing women and their infants who live in this geographic region.

Programs and Activities

  • Clearinghouse for information, referrals, and materials  

  • Surveys and studies of regional significance  

  • Monitoring of trends in perinatal services and outcome data in the region

  • Perinatal Resources Directory

  • Regional perinatal care protocols and standards of care

  • "Sweet Success" Diabetes and Pregnancy Program (CDAPP)

  • Linkage with other statewide regional perinatal programs

  • Consumer education materials

  • Technical assistance to agencies and programs

  • Regional Perinatal Council (see section below)

Organization
The North Coast Perinatal Access System supports and promotes the Regional 
Perinatal Council, a formal organization of providers, institutions, and recipients of 
perinatal health care in the region. The Regional Perinatal Council is governed by a 
Board of Directors, whose members include both appointed organizational 
representatives and elected representatives of geographic sub-regions.
