Population Served
http://www.perinatal.org/image/california_perinatal_dispatch_center_space.gifThe East Bay is a sub-region of the San Francisco Bay Area and includes the
counties of Alameda and Contra Costa. There are currently 10 hospitals in both counties
providing obstetrical care.  Alta Bates Summit Medical Center is one of the largest
birthing centers in California, with 7,427 births in 2005.  With over 24,000 births per
year, the region represents 2.5% of all births in California.
Programs and Activities
http://www.perinatal.org/image/california_perinatal_dispatch_center_space.gifThe East Bay Regional Perinatal Program opened its doors in February 2002. The
program agenda is consistent with the State directives for all of the Regional Perinatal
Programs of California.  Program activities will emphasize evidence-based clinical
practice, outcome measurement, and utilization of regional data for clinical quality
improvement. This is accomplished through regular meetings with the Nursing
Leadership Council (consisting of nurse managers and supervisors, nurse educators,
clinical nurse specialists, and public health), and the Medical Advisory Committee
consisting of neonatologists.
